It is a way to start college with a built-in support system. The First Year Experience Program (FYE) is designed for new-to-college students who will enroll in FYE-designated transfer-level English, Math, and Counseling classes. If you choose to join, you will build friendships, create strong bonds, and feel a true sense of belonging on campus. With structured classes, supportive instructors, a dedicated counselor, and fun activities outside the classroom, FYE will help you stay on track and reach your transfer, graduation, and career goals. FYE is especially ideal for first-generation college students. You don鈥檛 have to figure it out alone!
- Understand the college process and have a smooth transition from high school to college
- Get help picking classes during the first year of college

- Take interactive college classes with supportive instructors, with the same cohort or group of students

You鈥檒l be encouraged to embrace your new independence, stay motivated, and use campus resources to help you succeed. You鈥檒l attend a First Year Experience (FYE) Welcome Workshop, an event held the week before classes start in August. You will be placed into a cohort and take at least two FYE-designated courses each semester during your first year, in addition to any non-FYE courses you choose to take.
The FYE program is a year-long program that starts every fall semester. Unfortunately, we do not accept students into the program for spring semester only.
