Training Options

Pre-approved Courses

Satisfactory completion (as evidenced by Certificate of Achievement) of any of the following @One (Online Network of Educators) courses within the last five years is acceptable for the 1-unit training requirement to teach online.

  • @One Introduction to Asynchronous Online Teaching & Learning
  • @One Intro to Course Design
  • @One Online Teaching & Design

Alternate Courses

Faculty who have taken another course(s) in preparation for online teaching may request approval to meet the 1-unit requirement for course(s) taken within the last five years.

Please provide the following information with documentation:

  • Course title
  • College or institution
  • Units/hours (documentation should reflect minimum of 18 hours of coursework, not including self-paced hours)
  • Description of course content (For ex., course syllabus and/or published description of content covered in the course)
  • Date of completion (Note: course(s) must have been completed within the previous five years)

  • Training in online teaching is a requirement from the .
  • 51.2.7: 鈥淔aculty assigned to teach distance education courses and who have not taught distance education courses in the District must complete an approved training equivalent to a one-unit course. The appropriate Vice President will consider waiver requests where previous appropriate training has been received. The decision of the Vice President on whether to waive shall be final. The college鈥檚 Distance Learning Committee shall maintain a list of appropriate 1-unit courses to satisfy the distance education training.鈥�
Possibly! When you fill out the form, you can upload information about the training. We have a list of trainings from other colleges we have already determined are equivalent, but can also vet trainings to make sure they cover critical topics like regular and substantive interaction and accessibility.

We have preapproved trainings offered through . These are offered on an ongoing basis, though they do tend to fill quickly. Schedules are generally available:

    1. Fall: last week of July
    2. Spring: last week of October
    3. Summer: first week of April
